Much was left to see when I had to return from Ethiopia after three weeks of intensive travel. I'll never forget the impressive landscape of the Simien mountains, the sulphuric springs of Dallol that give you a feeling how Earth might have looked three billion years ago and the lava lake of Erta Ale that offers you a view towards the inside of earth. In Tigray you can find 1500 years old churches hewn into 300m high cliffs whereas in Lalibela monolithic churches are carved out of the rock and are still the destination for hundreds of pilgrims every day.
