lebanon

Having visited Lebanon a couple of times this year, I have to say that there is probably no other place on the world featuring this amount of diversity. It starts with the climate that ranges from sub-tropic to arid and high-alpine and continues with the cultural heritage beginning 5000BC. Lebanon was home to the Phoenicians and was later ruled by the Greeks, the Roman Empire, the Ottoman Empire and became a French mandate after World War I. The civil war in the 70's to the 80's left many scars all over the country. Lebanese people are among the most hospitable I know, but also unbelievably ignorant behind the wheel of their cars that can either be a wreck of an 60's Mercedes or the latest giant Cadillac SUV.
